Steve Carpenter

Join Steve every morning for breakfast between 6 and 10am.

Join Steve Carpenter every morning for the brightest, liveliest start to the day across Somerset and West Dorset. There’s the best music mix anywhere on your dial plus news, weather, sport, travel, competitions and a chance to get a mention on "The Birthday File" where you could win a fantastic bouquet of flowers from Next Day Flowers!

Greg Bown from the Ivel fm News Team joins Steve for some lively banter most mornings and their joint rantings are attracting attention right across the Ivel fm area.

There's chances to win some great prizes and you can try to guess the year in "The Five at Nine" after the news at nine each morning where there's a daily prize to be won by one lucky listener!

Steve started in the radio industry in the mid 80's working in Devon. After a successful stint on a Breakfast show he moved to Somerset to host an afternoon show for seven years. During this time his show became the most popular drive time show in the region having more listeners than any other station in the area.

He moved back to Devon between 2001 and 2003 then joined Ivel fm as Programme Controller and Mid Morning presenter. Steve took over the helm on the Breakfast Show in February 2004 and has been there ever since.

Steve has an impressive portfolio not only 'on air' but as a resident DJ and compare too - you never know where he'll be appearing next in Somerset and West Dorset, and beyond!

Licensing officers have slapped fifty pound fines on two Yeovil taxi drivers who were caught smoking in their vehicles - even although they were not carrying passengers at the time.   Taxi drivers are not allowed to smoke in their cars because it is deemed that this is their workplace. Should the smoking ban be extended to include all cars vans and lorries?

On Sunday 4th May, Neil Quigley and Matt Crabb from Team Ivel were broadcasting live from The Abbey Hill Steam and Country Fair. The event is held every year on the first May bank holiday. Despite the weather a great day was had by the team! There were many attractions on show from Steam Engines to Tractors and a visit from the Air Ambulance. Plus entertainment on the Ivel fm stage in the form off musical talent from Mandy.
