Ironman UK 2008

 

Preparations are well under way for another exciting Ironman UK event at Sherborne Castle later this summer. This year’s event will take place over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of September with the culmination being the UK Ironman event itself on the Sunday, starting at 6am, with around 1500 competitors tackling the course. They will be swimming 2.1 miles, cycling 112 miles and completing the event by running a full marathon!

We have received many applications to be the Ivel fm Ironman competitor at this year’s event and therefore we are delaying our announcement of our competitor until Friday 18th April.

  Nevertheless, Ironman HQ is looking for is looking for you to help at this year’s UK Ironman. The competitors will be swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles, then running a full marathon.  The event is at Sherborne Castle on Sunday 19th August.

Over 600 volunteers are to help. You are needed for a variety of tasks including marshalling, body marking, wetsuit stripping and finish line catchers.

All these jobs are integral to the running of the event and places you in the heart of the race action. You’ll be working as part of a team throughout the day. You can choose to work the full race or one of the various shifts. The day can be long but it is the closest you will get to the event without actually competing call 08700 11 28 11.
