Ivel fm Ironman Competitor

Ivel fm in association with Tri-UK have chosen this year’s Ivel fm Ironman Competitor to take place at this year’s event based at Sherborne Castle. Glenn Higson is a Lieutenant based at RNAS Yeovilton. He is now in training for the mammoth task that he will undertake in September this year. He’ll be swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and then running a full marathon. Here’s some of the things he says about himself and his hopes for this year’s event:

So why should I be considered? I have been a spectator at previous Ironman events in Sherborne, and along with many others have said that one day I will step up to the plate and give it a go.....I may have also been heard to say 'It can't be that hard surely?’, my bluff has now been called and it is time for me to put my money where my mouth is and join the ranks of the often referred to elite bunch (or should that read insane??) who have completed this event. My drive to do the Ironman is not purely to prove a point, I have competed in triathlon events previously and just relish the challenge of completing the ultimate in endurance events. As a person working locally within the Ivel fm catchment area, it would give me great pleasure to race on your behalf and also give me the opportunity to raise some money for a local charity.
